Gravel World Series – Wörthersee: A Solid Team Weekend in Velden
This past weekend, the Bikeleasing – Edelsten Racing Team took on the UCI Gravel World Series race at Lake Wörthersee. With perfect weather and a fast but beautiful course around Velden, our riders Jurek, Nico, and Felix lined up in the elite field, while Simon competed in the amateur category.
Felix managed to position himself well during the fast and hectic opening phase, proving his strength among the front group. Unfortunately, an early mechanical setback forced him to drop back.
Undeterred, he rode the remaining 120 kilometers mostly solo and delivered impressive split times, making up ground and showing real fighting spirit.
Jurek and Nico both had a great start, riding strongly in the front part of the field during the first half of the race. In the second lap, they had to dial it back slightly but still maintained solid performances. Jurek and Nico both showed strong pacing and control, riding smart and consistently throughout the challenging race.
In the amateur race, Simon showed great form, riding confidently among the top 5 for much of the first half. Although he faded a bit towards the end, he still secured a very respectable result – and earned his qualification for the World Championships in his very first race of the season!
Beyond the racing itself, the weekend in Velden was a fantastic experience for the whole team. We had a great time together, enjoyed the atmosphere, and left the event motivated and excited for the challenges ahead.
