Tough Conditions and a Solid Ride – Martin at the MTB Bundesliga in Gedern
This past Sunday, Martin lined up for the third round of the MTB Bundesliga, held as a UCI C2 race in Gedern. After several days of intermittent rain leading up to the event, the course conditions were far from ideal. Mud, slick roots, and deep ruts made it clear from the start that running sections would play a significant role throughout the race – a true test of endurance and bike-handling skills.
Martin got off to a strong start, positioning himself just outside the Top 10 after the start loop as the riders entered the first technical sections. He managed to hold his position well in the opening laps, navigating the tricky terrain with confidence.
However, the numerous muddy running sections began to take their toll. These unrideable parts demanded not only physical strength but also rhythm-breaking dismounts and remounts – making it difficult for Martin to maintain a consistent pace. As the race wore on, the fatigue from these sections accumulated, and Martin lost a few positions during the latter half of the race.
Despite the challenging conditions and a physically demanding course, Martin showed resilience and tactical awareness, ultimately securing a respectable 17th place at the finish line.
A gritty ride in classic Bundesliga fashion – well done, Martin!
